As the eldest child of an underprivileged family in Seremban, Dr Tong Kim Hong started working at the age of 15. Establishing Heng Lee Engineering Metal Work with his partners in 1992. Dr Tong ended the partnership after six months and focused on ventilation systems until he expanded the business to factories and restaurants in 2011. In 2017, Dr Tong successfully established HL Metal Works and received his PhD in Philosophy.
